The job is to find the right words.
Photography is for when words aren't enough.

Two days in the villa miseria of Buenos Aires
Villa 31 — one of Buenos Aires' largest informal settlements, home to tens of thousands of people in the Retiro district, a few blocks from the city's main train station and luxury hotels. It has a name, a history, and a community. It is not easy to visit without a guide.
A portrait of a Cuban painter
Cesar Leal (1948–2024) lived in Regla, across the bay from Havana, in a house with no running water and a portrait of Elvis where most Cubans would hang Che. He painted, taught children for free, and listened to Metallica while he worked. I photographed him in 2017.
Project is work in progress
An evening walk I didn't plan in the times I thought I knew Istanbul, and two photographs I'm still proud of. Plus a café where I once waited, with quiet optimism, for one of the great photographers of the twentieth century to walk through the door.
